Subject: One Last Favor for Kevin
What an amazing group of friends you have all become ! Your support through out this ordeal has given his family encouragement, love and comfort.
As a last favor ....Kevin's dad, Mickey is looking to grow this group to 2000 strong to send Kevin on to his next destination.
If each of you would invite one more person to join we can top that goal by Sunday.
with continued appreciation to each and everyone of you.
Penny

Subj: Son dies after long flu ordeal 6abc.com - 11-18-09 - Philadelphia News - 6abc.com.htm
PHILADELPHIA, PA.; November 17, 2009 (WPVI) -- Michael Hirsch has informed Action News that his son Kevin passed away Wednesday morning due to the H1N1 virus and a secondary infection of pneumonia. Their story was aired Tuesday night on Action News.
Mr. Hirsch thanks everyone for their thoughts and prayers.
He says Kevin was a happy-go-lucky young man. He was physically healthy before getting the H1N1 virus.
Mr. Hirsch urges others to be vaccinated against H1N1, if not for yourself but to protect others.
A single father of three says he's always done everything he can to keep his children safe and healthy, and now he urges other parents to do the same and have their kids vaccinated against the virus.
"Very innocent and happy," is how Michael Hirsch described his 26-year-old son Kevin.
He was a hardworking employee at McDonald's, mentally challenged but always healthy physically - until a few weeks ago.
"I was having a really hard time getting his fever below 102," said Hirsch in a story Action News broadcast a day before Kevin died.
Hirsch says Kevin had a fever and headache for several days. He says their family doctor told them at first, he'd be fine... But his symptoms got worse.
Kevin was admitted to the intensive care unit at Aria Health Torresdale and put in a medically-induced coma.
He had the H1N1 virus, and on top of that, pneumonia.
Doctors, said Hirsch, were frank about the diagnosis.
"They didn't hesitate to say your son is fighting for his life," he told Action News.
So now Michael is urging other parents to take the swine flu seriously. In Kevin's case it opened the door to a greater infection that eventually claimed Kevin's life.
Michael reminds parents if your child is sick call your doctor, and call again if they don't get better.
He also urges parents to have children vaccinated.
The vaccine wasn't available before Kevin got sick. But if it had been -
"That would have been the difference."
A friend has set up a facebook page called 'Prayers for Kevin Hirsch.'
Although Kevin's case is rare, there have been links drawn bettween H1N1 and pneumonia. And it can be deadly.
That's why health officials want to vaccinate everyone at a greater risk for problems, and vaccine is becoming much more available now.

Subj: the ringHi Pete,Here is the story about the high school ring. I'm mailing it directly to you so you can put it on the website if you want. I still have to write to Mr. O'Donnell & Betty Cannon. I haven't heard anything from Carole Horner & I'm not surprised. Thanks for everything you did for the ring & everything you always do keep us connected.Cyndi
The case of the missing high school ring
I received an e-mail from Pete asking me if I had my high school ring. I really haven’t thought about my high school ring in maybe – 40 years! After inspecting my jewelry box, I had a Penn State ring, a National Honor Society pin, but not my high school ring.
Then Pete relayed a story how an elderly man (Mr. O’Donnell) found a 1969 NE high school ring with the Letters CRH inscribed on the inside. The man found it on a South Jersey beach and held onto it for about 10 years. He gave it to a neighbor who lives in Northeast Philadelphia during the winter months. He hoped she could find the ring’s owner.
Betty called the Northeast Alumni Association & they immediately called Pete. After research, he determined the ring belongs to either me or Carole Horner. I believed the ring was mine. So Pete gave Betty my number and we had a nice conversation. We talked about Sea Isle City & Avalon. I did have connections to both of those beaches a long time ago. It wasn’t 10 years; it was closer to 40 years ago, when I was a young adult.
Betty was so happy to return something of value with such an interesting history. To find a ring on the beach & trace the owner was amazing. She hoped I could pass the ring to my children. We talked about what a great human interest story it would make. I took the gentleman’s address so I could thank him. Betty mailed the ring to me.
I opened the box & immediately tried on the ring. I was surprised that the ring was slightly big. It was probably not even a size larger. Maybe I’m crazy, but I had a couple of doubts. Is it possible this was not my ring? It’s a shame that my memory is 58 years old!
Instead of 2 thank you notes to Betty & Mr. O’Donnell, I wrote to Betty to continue the story a while longer. I wrote to Carole Horner. I haven’t received a response. Pete never got any replies from Carole either. So, along with this story, the ring is mine. I am in the process of thanking Mr. O’Donnell. In today’s world it’s so nice that people take the time and effort to return a ring that was from the past.

Subj: 40 Year ReunionHi Pete,
It was great seeing you (and everyone else) again at the reunion. It’s wonderful that we can get together every five years and rekindle friendships with the people we grew up with. I have attached the photos I took that night so you can post them to the web page.
Thanks for helping make these reunions happen,
Murray
