Subj: Moore Kindergarten Picture
Dear Pete,
Hope all's well. I am sending you the Moore Elem Kindergarten picture Fall 1957. Can you put it on the class website and or anywhere else that's appropriate. Thanks! I'll be in touch late.
Eileen

Hi Pete,
I thought I'd send you a caption to the kindergarten photo, I thought it might be helpful. (Next time you send out a group email.) If I got any names wrong, please anyone correct me. There are several people I cannot remember at all.
To the best of my ability, the little ones in the photo are, from bottom left:
me, Larry Inver, Elissa Black, Ricky Segal, ?, ?, Penny White, Arthur ?
Stanton Zucker, Merle Gay, ?, Bonnie Kaufman, Linda Pollack, Sherry Weiner
Dennis Brown, Lynne Greenberg, Robert Faber (I think), Roslyn Katz, Michael ?, you, Jeffrey Weiner
Bruce Bell, Ilene Rittenberg, Sydria Schneider, ?, Gary Turetsky (who could name all the presidents in order and I remember in 2nd grade they pulled him out of the class and he skipped a grade, or went to Masterman or something--I guess it really made an impression on me), Susan Bass, and the next girl--her name is on the tip of my tongue, I'm sure it will come to me...)
Whew!
Eileen

Subj: Re: 2 - Elementary School Memories part 8
Wow! What memories! Janet... I think the substitute who looked like Walter Matthau's grandfather was a guy named Mr. Lamp. He was old and had eyes that looked like Walter's. I remember that you and Andee Shiroff used to live near me in back of Adath Zion.
Caryn...I do remember going to see The Sound Of Music with Miss Ronaghan's class. It was the first real live show I'd ever seen. She was a terrific teacher. She also took us to the Art Museum and we sat together on the bus. I remember going over your house a lot. I remember your sister and your brother. Do you remember that Robin Paul's mother was our classroom mother?
I was in the girls' locker room at Wilson at the end of the day getting my coat when someone came in and said that Kennedy had been shot. A bunch of us said that it wasn't funny to joke like that, but then on the way out of school we saw some teachers crying. Sharon Frank and I walked out of Wilson together and saw her Mom's car. We walked over and her Mom and cousin sally were in the front seat crying. Just then, Walter Cronkite came on the radio and announced that Pres. Kennedy ad passed away. We just sat in the car stunned. It was such a surreal experience. I also remember that OCJCC had a prayer service that Sunday evening and the place was packed. I also remember watching on TV as Jack Ruby actually shot Lee Harvey Oswald.
Does anyone who had Miss Ronaghan remember our end of 6th grade dinner at the Howard Johnson's at Adams Ave. and the Blvd.? It was a "dated" affair. Barry Dickman took Arlene Levit. By the way, Arlene and I are still good friends to this day!
I've got to say...this blog/message board is terrific!

Subj: Elementary SchoolHi Lynne et al,We were in classes together from kindergarten thru 4th grade, I believe. Mrs. Weiss-kinder, Mrs Heinz & Mrs Meyers-1st grade, Mrs Wechsler-2nd grade, Mrs Liebman-4th grade (then I had Mr Myerov and Miss Ronaghan).Wechsler was a horror. She was very critical and mean. You never knew what she was going to do. Mrs. Shideleff was wonderful. I recall she had been an interpretor at the UN. Our class learned a poem in Russian and the TV news came in and filmed us. I still have my Russian schoolbooks she ordered for us, but I can't read them at all. She cont'd to teach us Russian during 4th grade when we had Mrs. Liebman.Lynne, you're in the kinder class picture I have. Do you still have it? Pete, I will post it one of these days! Lynne, I'm so glad you chimed in.I remember joining the Brownies in second grade (I think) when my mother surprised me and became a troop leader. Any other Brownies out there?Does anyone know the whereabouts of Marcus Marutani, our NE school president?Eileen M (Is Ilene Rittenberg out there anywhere?)
